Plaza 2 update on the Bulbs for School Project
Fri 06 Oct 2017Further to our last news item about the Bulbs for Schools Science investigation, the bulbs, pots, rain gauges, thermometers and various other equipment all arrived today. What a coincidence! The project coordinators have now confirmed that the official planting day for the project is 20th October 2017.
If any parents are able to volunteer to help with planting on that day, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the school office to confirm your DBS certification.

Volunteers needed to help with a science project in Plaza 2!
Fri 06 Oct 2017Earlier in the year, Mr Bowen and Ms Impey applied for our Plaza 2 children to be part of a national scientific research project into climate change and the impact of temperature on the growth of plants. If successful, we will be taking delivery of a large number of spring bulbs very soon and are looking for volunteers to help the children with planting. Interested? Year 4 Never Eat Soggy Worms!

They will be using a variety of Maths, Science, Geography and English skills in combination over the next few weeks. Year 4 Expanded Column Subtraction
Fri 29 Sep 2017Year 4 have done so well with the expanded method for addition this week, that we are going to try moving on to the expanded method for subtraction next week. We might even experiment with inverse calculations!! Year 4 Expanded Column Addition
Sat 23 Sep 2017Next week, Year 4 will be exploring expanded column addition to consolidate and extend our understanding of addition calculations. This is very similar to the traditional column method that we adults were all taught in school, with some subtle differences to help the children understand the place value of the digits in each number; place value is something we have explored this week.
