Please see above a list of the 100 High Frequency Words the children are expected to know by the end of Reception.
Some of these words are 'RED' words. (Words you can not sound out phonetically.) In school we CLAP as we say the letters. The children will be able to show you an example of this with some of the following words:
- The
- My
- To
- Go etc...
The end of January, I highlighted the high frequency words your child had been through. They took this sheet home. If you still have that sheet, please use it and continue re-cap and go over these words adding new words each week. At the top of the Phase 2 and Phase 3 planning for phonics there is some guidance of what words you could do which week. Introduce 1, 2 or 3 new words per week. If they don't get the word please go over it with them before moving on.
