Gwybodaeth / Information

This year our PE days will be a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Due to the current situation we find ourselves in, can I please ask children to come to school dressed in their correct PE kits on our PE days. As the weather is turning colder, you may wish to send your child to school wearing tracksuit bottoms and a waterproof coat as we will be utilising our outdoor area.

Children are welcome to take home reading books home if and when they like (upon their return to school the books will be quarantined for a number of days to eliminate transmission as per government guidelines). Please keep their reading records from last year for us to track which books they are being taken home and which are being returned.

Please make sure that your child has their own water bottle, as we cannot provide spare water bottles due to health restrictions. The children will be able to replenish their water throughout the day and I will be regularly cleaning the water fountains and sinks throughout the day.

Due to the new entry and exit procedures in place, it is likely we will not cross paths at the beginning or end of the school day. However if there is a matter you would like to discuss, please email the school at raglan.primary@monmouthsire.gov.uk to arrange a telephone consultation.

How can you help?

Please listen your child read or read with them on a daily basis, whether it is a school book, library book, comic or an online text. It would really help them if you could ask questions about the text they have read to develop their comprehension skills. Regular practise of telling the time, handling money and quickly recalling their multiplication facts will be hugely beneficial throughout the school year. Children can freely access Hwb and spelling shed at home, please encourage them to do so. The children have just begun using a pen for the first time and throughout the year they will be learning t write in cursive. Any practise you can do of this to help improve their presentation is great. Spelling continues to be target for every member of the class therefore please keep practising the first 200 high frequency words at home alongside the weekly spelling words that are sent with homework. Should you want any ideas to make this fun, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
