Wellbeing

As a school we put wellbeing at the heart of the curriculum and we are so lucky to have this lovely little wellbeing space known as 'The Warren'.  This space is a lovely wellbeing cwtch area, it is inviting, relaxing and warming.

We all know that sometimes things can get a little challenging, or a little tough. This area provides thinking space, time to talk and generally time away from the busy everyday classroom.  Supporting children's mental and emotional well-being is key and we are lucky enough to have a trained ELSA practitioners to help maximise support if it is needed.

Children's Mental Health Week 2026

9th - 15th February

Belonging is at the heart of children’s wellbeing. When children feel that they belong, they feel safe, valued, and understood. This sense of connection helps them grow in confidence, build positive relationships, and engage fully in their learning.

“This is my place” is a powerful message for children. It tells them that they have a special space where they are accepted exactly as they are — their personality, their interests, their voice, and their identity all matter. In school, this means creating an environment where every child feels noticed, listened to, and included.

For young children, belonging can be felt through the little things:

  • being greeted by name in the morning
  • having their work displayed proudly
  • knowing routines and feeling secure
  • sharing their ideas and seeing them valued
  • playing with friends who include and support them
  •

When children feel they belong, they are more willing to take risks in their learning, try new things, and communicate how they feel. They develop resilience because they know there are trusted adults and friends who will support them. Belonging also helps children regulate their emotions — it is much easier to manage big feelings when you feel safe and anchored.

This Children’s Mental Health Week, we celebrate the idea that every child deserves a place where they feel happy, safe, and accepted. A place where they can explore, learn, and grow. A place where they feel part of a community.

When children know:
“I matter here.”
“People care about me.”
“I belong.”

…they begin to flourish.

Creating that sense of belonging is one of the most important things we can do for children — not just during Mental Health Week, but every day.

We have created a daily activity plan that you can take part in to mark Children's Mental Health Week.
