An Exciting Week...
We have been learning all about Bossy Verbs and patterns this week. Today we made a very exciting discovery on the Noddfa yard. Something, or someone had been leaving strange messages for Year 1, all written in patterns! We decided we needed to reply by creating some patterns back. We are hoping to get a reply!
We have been learning all about 'Little Miss Bossy' an her bossy verbs in our Literacy lessons this week. We also discovered more bossy verbs when we started to research recipe ideas for our DT food project.
Photos to follow....
This week we have enjoyed learning about Fireworks and linking this to our learning. We wrote poems together, using a fabulous selection of describing words and we created firework art, linking it to exploring and experimenting through Knowledge and Understanding.
While we experimented we began thinking carefully about 'What happened if...' and we decided that 'The harder you hit, the bigger the paint splat you can make' and 'The higher you drop the water balloon from, the larger the splat you will make'. We had lots of fun, exploring and making our final pictures.
There are some examples in the photograpsh below.
We also used money in our class shop and thought about the different selections of items we could purchase with our coins. Some of us didn't want to spend it all!
This week the children have been continuing to develop their story retells of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. They have created a story map to help them to write the middle part of the story.
In maths we have been looking at 'Doubling and Halving' and thinking about "If I know... Then I know...". So if we know that 2+2=4 then we know that 20+20=40.
We have also been enjoying being creative and making our PTA Christmas cards!
This week the children have continued to develop their story writing. We have been developing our descriptions of the different characters in our story and learning how to add adjectives to make a sentence more interesting. We have also been 'Freeze Framing' parts of the story and thinking about what the characters might think, feel or say.
We have enjoyed using our maths skills to buy items from our class shop and understanding the value of different coins.
Our 'Fairytale' dance routines in PE are really developing, we have listened to the fairytale music and have been thinking about adding different actions and ways of travelling around the space.
We are thoroughly enjoying being back in school and learning about our new topic 'You, Me and Make Believe'.
This week we have been using adjective to describe characters and features of our story - The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
In maths we have been ordering a variety of 2 digit numbers and checking our place value understanding. We also helped the Farmer to sort his goats, so that he knew how many he had.
